CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (ANS) -- Bill and Ivy Bray have finalized the dates for their “Welcoming the World” spring mission tour to Illinois and Michigan. Their visits will help promote the upcoming Decade of the International Student starting in 2010, a new thrust to reach all nations through indigenous missionaries.
“Welcoming the World” receptions are planned for Grand Rapids and Chicago. The Brays plan to be in Grand Rapids June 14-19 and in Chicago June 21-29.
In addition, meetings are planned with student leaders, native missionary candidates, pastors, prayer partners and supporters. Local contact people for some anchor events are still needed, but call 434-227-0811 for most up to date details.
This year over 623,000 overseas students are guests in the USA. The Brays mid-west visit follows their May and June meetings with international student ministries in Florida and California.
Bill Bray, who is president of the Overseas Students Mission, will also challenge Christians to become “Friendship Families” to international students studying at local colleges and universities.
The “Welcome the World Tour” shows mission-minded Christians how they can fulfill Christ’s kingdom vision for the nations without going overseas personally.
Bray says that the tour meetings will allow concerned church groups and individuals to make plans to host international students at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
They will also visit key Christian schools on the tour including the Moody Bible Institute and Calvin College to talk with mission’s professors, mentors and leaders.
Dr. Bill Bray has developed indigenous missions since 1966, traveling to over 65 countries on consulting and media assignments. He has co-authored 11 books on Christian missions and is a popular conference and retreat speaker. He is a frequent contributor to ASSIST News Service.
“My biggest personal burden now,” he says, “is to help locate the leaders of the next generation and link them to older believers who will be able to mentor or enable them to transforms their nations through the Gospel.”
In Grand Rapids, they will attend the Coalition on the Support of Indigenous Ministries (COSIM) from June 15-17. COSIM is a fellowship of evangelical organizations with a common interest in the support and strengthening of native missions; the same work Bill Bray has been focused on for over 40 years.
