Merry Christmas

Wednesday 24 Dec 2008

At this time we have two tasks to perform: first, it is timely to thank all of our readers, staff, contributors, and supporters for helping us kick start the Missionaries News Service.  In almost five months, we have progressed further than we could have reasonably expected.  God has been very gracious with us and we are truly thankful.  Secondly, we would like to encourage you all this Christmas to make sure that you tell your children the Christmas story of the birth of Jesus Christ.  The future peace, stability, and prosperity of the world depend on you doing this.

Big Plans and Great Hopes

In the coming year, we have big plans.  We hope to be able to considerably expand the reach of the Missionaries News Service and achieve our goal of making it a truly influential voice in the world.  We are committed to engaging in the War of Ideas and promoting the importance of Christianity in world affairs.  In doing this, we want to play our part of fulfilling our great commission to take the Word of Christ Jesus to the world.  If we do nothing else, we will have made a worthy contribution.

In playing our part, we want to encourage Christian Churches, ministries and other outreach program to more actively communicate the message in the coming year; the world needs to know Jesus Christ and what He is doing.  There are many, many incredible stories to be told.  The work that Christ does, every day, is truly amazing.  Our duty is to tell His story to the world.  Millions of young people now use the Internet to get their news and their understanding of the world and Christ must be seen to be a credible part of that cyber world.  As it is now, although “He is in the world, and the world is made by Him, the world knows Him not.” (John 1: 3)

In this life, those of us who know the truth and enjoy its spoils have a God-given responsibility to tell the world.  This is what it means to be a missionary.  This is why we implore you this Christmas to tell your children the story of Jesus Christ, and explain His commandments, before you lose them.

Teach them diligently unto your children; talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down in your bed, and when you rise up.  Bind them for a sign upon your hand, make them frontlets between your eyes; write them upon the posts of your house, and on your gates.” (Deuteronomy 6: 7-9

We need to reflect this Christmas on the tumultuous year that 2008 has been; particularly these part three months during which the financial system of the world has been turned upside down.  Millions of people, all over the world, are badly affected by the foolish mistakes that have been made and irresponsibility that has been shown at all levels of society.  In our hearts, we know that we cannot go on this way.

As Christians, we know better.  Throughout history, we have always been a moderating voice in the world and we must continue to play this role.  Without surrender, we must strive to be on good terms with all our neighbors.  We must not stop reaching out to the world, no matter how many times our hand is bitten and our overtures are rejected.  In doing so however, we must not surrender our principles.  We must be brave and strong in our belief.

This is our prayer this Christmas.

May God bless and keep you, wherever you are.

Be happy!  God loves you and will never abandon you.
